I was going to have my driveshaft replaced at the local dealer but they wanted too much and wouldn't negotiate (seriously, $1,200?!). Anyone have the part number for the main cardan driveshaft so I make sure I order the correct one from Suncoast? The retail price search brings up many part #'s. Also, does anyone know if this is pretty difficult to replace? A friend owns a reputable "repair shop" but they've never worked on a Cayenne.

Porsche dealer told me it was the one with the central bearing (if I understood them correctly - also, supposedly a common problem on early Cayennes). I believe that is the longer rear one.

Item 1 or item 4 (long or short one)?

I had the same shaft replaced. One dealer quoted me over $1,000 for the shaft. Another dealer charged me $645 and two hours labor at $104 per hour. I chose the latter. They also guaranteed the part for two years and lifetime labor.

Looks like this part number was updated again. I just had this replaced under CPO warranty under part number 955-421-020-14.

They should have checked the driveshaft bearing support first. The rubber wears and can be replaced cheaply and quickly together with the guibo flex disc.
