I just purchased a Recaro Vivo and this kind fits perfect, an inch more it will not go. It's for 30 to 80lbs I believe 3 to 10 yrs old. I searched for a long time and saw the dimensions of this seat but I could not find anything around that stocks em on a shelf to try it, but with the dimensions and measurement of the porsche 03 996 c2 back seat measures up. So I went and ordered it through target.com (ebay has it also) and I'm Glad I did. It does not only fit, but it really looks good and goes with the car and looks very safe . I have a 3 year old and my 8yr old nephew who doesnt use one anymore wants me to buy him one too....I took shots on every angle possible, room from top, space behind the child seat, leg room (the front passenger seat moved all the way forward), side view, and front view . Sorry for the quality I just used a celll phone, hope i attached this pictures right if not please let me know. The best part also It's only $109 shipped with the color I have the others like gray/black are $10 cheaper. Enjoy!

Not only does this car seat fit perfect, it is the best looking safest looking booster seat I have ever seen. Very happy with mine.

I don't suppose you had a rear facing convertible seat or infant carrier in there before this?

If all goes well I'm weeks away from pulling the trigger on a 996. I've got a 2 month old baby boy, I've been researching this topic for about a year now all over the web (other boards) and although I've read a few reports of infant carriers fitting fine and seen exactly 1 picture of one I'd still love some concrete information and/or pictures.

Somebodysdad,

I moved from a boxster to a 996 only because we now have children. A rear facing seat, or infant carrier will not fit well in the 996. A infant carrier will fit in the front seat, but you need to have the porsche kit to turn off the airbag. I would recommend you let the little guy turn 1 before you try to get him in your 996. That way you can have him in a forward facing child seat in the rear. They have to be 1 year old and 20 pounds before you can put them in a front facing seat.

Congrats on the boy

I have the Porsche infant seat available if anyone needs it (less the deactivator bar but you can get that from Carnewal). I'll also have the next size up available in a few months as my son is on the verge of outgrowing it as well.

The infant seat can be used in the back while rear facing but it is a nightmare to get in there. Also, the front seat must be slid way way way forward. It is fine in an emergency but not good otherwise. With the airbag deactivator bar the seat works well up front.

viper501,

Do you still have the infant car seat available? My 2nd son will be about 3 months old when I put my car back on the road, and it would be painful to have to take the two of them to the beach in something other then my car...

If yes, please send me an email with the details. I live in Waterloo, Ontario which means that shipping might be a problem :-(

I have a Recaro baby seat, i fabricate carbon fiber items as a hobby, so we copied it in CF and just transferred over the seat cover (which was redone in alcantara)... Anyways, they make GREAT baby seats that look amazing, even in "stock" form :)

I have a Britax Roundabout in the back of my 996 C4S now. Works OK but the wife has to put her seat up a lot unless she wants my daughter's feet in her hair. Also, it's hard to secure the seat so that it moves less than 1 inch. I still have about 1.5 to 2 inches of play that I can't get rid of. I tried taking out the bottom seat but doesn't help much.

I spent $300 even for the Porsche version of the Ricaro pictured. I have to wait till my daughter is 3.5 – 4 years old before I can use it though (only 6 more months!).

Yes, same issue here, of course. Works ok for short trips, but it doesn't look very comfy.

Where can you get the buckle for the deactivation bar?

Also, I've used the Roundabout (rear) and it has worked well - but it does take up alot of space. I've ordered a Maxi Cosi Rodi and I'm hoping that fits my almost four year old "out back". I'll let you know how it goes. The Vivo looks good however, so I'll try that if the Maxi Cosi doesn't work.

I just bought the Recaro Vivio from Amazon for $90 for my 2004 911 Cab. My daughter is 4 years old, tall for her age and about 40 pounds. I bought the Carbon/Black color scheme as my cab is black/black. Have to say that it looks pretty good considering that it is a car seat in a Porsche.

However my wife was freaking out when she first saw how high my daughter was sitting. Does anyone know how far up the rear roll bars pop up when activated?

I tried to convince her that when activated they would more than cover the height of the seat, however she wants proof.

BTW - My daughter thinks it is "super cool" to drive around in Daddy's convertible.
