Hey guys,

I am buying a 2001 TT, I had a 2004 TT but totaled it about 1.5 years ago.

Has anyone installed a PCM 2 Nav into an 01 model, could this be done if I were to purchase the Fiber Optic cabling, I know a lot of you would think I am crazy by doing this but I want to build a car exactly like my last one that I dearly miss and didnt get to enjoy for too long.

Any advice would be great, thanks.

IMHO, do not put in the MOST system. There are several "better" choices for head units and stereo. If it is that important to you, buy an 03+....the deals are great out there.

Maybe for you guys, not here, I paid $380,000 for my 04 TT when I bought it, a good used 01/02 TT here still runs up to $200,000, I am loctaed in AUS.

Loren thanks for the reply, would you have an indication on what parts would be required to do this?

Thanks again for any replies.

That's crazy! 200,000AUD=130,000USD=87,000GBP. I paid 31,500GBP for my TT in August, and prices here have dropped a couple of thousand since. At that rate you could by a car in the UK and have it shipped to Oz for less than half the price you would pay locally. Is that an option, or do they charge 200% import duty?

By the way, I'm with wross996TT on the PCM issue. Why replace one obsolete system with another obsolete (and hugely complicated and expensive) system, when an aftermarket 2-DIN system will be a much easier fit, have better functionality, and save a fortune. Just my 0.02 GBP's worth.

 It would likely take me a week to figure out all the parts - as wross996TT said there are better NAV systems out there for half the cost and twice the capability. Many good installers can even make it look like original equipment with the proper face plates.

Loren,

No problems, I won't waste your time. I may look at it in the future, however in saying that, what I will do is replace the entire dash to have a Glove comprtment, that can't be as hard?

R. Hamilton, we get screwed here by Taxes etc that make our cars one of the most expensive in the world, the money I pad for my original car could have bought me a CGT if I lived in the U.S.
