My steering wheel radio bottons have chipped (beige interior). Anyone ever try some type of touch up paint on them since the only way to replace the buttons is to replace the airbag? What type of paint or place did you take it to? Thanks

I have seen this question a lot. No one has successfully touched it up and end up getting a new bag eventually

a good friend of mine has done it. he had them to a body shop, and they actully repainted with the same colour. As for the signs on the buttons, they had them covered and then removed. I could tell if there is a difference between them. very nice. his buttons are grey.

The stereo buttons on the steering wheel are thin rubber/vinyl covered plastic. The interior color matching is the rubber/vinyl, and the white lettering and symbols are the hard plastic beneath. To repair the buttons with the same texture and color would probably be extremely difficult. StealthTT has the best idea though, a top quality paint/body place would be your only real bet outside of replacing working hardware.

And tell your other driver to stop picking at it :)

I took mine to the dealership for peeling buttons, air vents, rear ash trays and rear window shade surround. They replaced all of them under warranty. They did have to replace the entire airbag too.
