Today I did the idiot thing of grinding my rim on a curb as I went toward a "nicer" parking space. The rim lip of the tire didn't help much, if at all. I was considering doing the repair myself but because of a lack of time, I think I'll have to pay someone to do it. Does anyone know of a good, reliable rim-repair place in Southern California, prefereably in the Orange County area?

Don't want to hi-jack your post but may I add that a recommendation for San Mateo County would be appreciated as well.

Looking at costs of someone else doing it for upwards of $200 for an 18" rim, I think I'll have to opt to do it myself. But I can't seem to find Wurth products in any retail B&M store. Anyone know where they're found?

Yeah, I saw that NASA DIY a while back, but I just couldn't find the Wurth stuff. I was able to find them at www.goodspeedmotoring.com. Talked to the owner, seems like a cool guy. Bought both the silver paint and the lacquer from him and he gave me a bunch of tips. Also, he's trying out a new Wurth product, similar to the Dupli-Color filler primer. Says that will be on his site in 2 weeks. I'll update to see how it all goes...in the name of saving cash!

My experience with the Wurth clearcoat is that it starts "absorbing" brake dust. No solution so far. Maybe a harder (epoxy) clearcoat will withstand the harsh brake dust.

Does the dust wipe off or is the resulting coat so soft or porous that the dust gets embedded into the coat and needs to be sanded off?
