The manual slide on the passenger seat does not slide easily. Is there a lubrication point for these seats and what lube is the best? (works best and not stinky).

There is very little if any lubrication on the seat rails.

Step 1 would be too look under the seat with a flash light and make sure they is nothing caught or binding.

If you choose to remove the seat - then do so without the key in the ignition. If you remove the seat with the key in the ignition (even in the off position) you will an airbag fault light.

thanks that is good information. On closer examination the seat is sliding well but it seems there is not enough spring pressure. Can the spring be replace?

I am still having this issue. Let me be more clear. The seats in my 996 c4 move forward and back.

When I pull up the (poorly placed) handle (apparently designed buy the same guy that designed the key location) the driver seat slides forward by its self

When I do the same on the passenger side the seat does not slide forward by its self I need to push the seat forward.

There must be some spring or strut that pushes the seat forward that has gone bad on the passenger side. Does any on have a parts diagram for the seats so I can find this part?

When I bought my 99, the passenger side assist spring had popped off. It was just laying loose under the seat. I bet your has popped off too.

How about this issue, namely passenger seat stuck into the lowest position? Seat moves aft and fwd, but can't be height adjusted. Slightly annoying for my kids... So is this "normal", is there aquick fix, or should I remove the seat?

Lever is not stuck, it moves the mechanism, but it seems like the strut doesn't react to commands.

It's better to remove the seat and take a closer look what exactly is happen, there is no room under the seat in lowest possition to fix it.
