My owner's manual does not have instructions for the "key" button on the power driver's seat. Can someone educate me on what the "key" button does, and the steps to program it?

The "Power Seats" section of my instruction manual shows only a picture of a power seat with (M 1 2 3) buttons on the driver's side. My seat has (M [key] 1 2) buttons on the driver's side. I've had no problems setting the "1" or "2" seat settings, and the key fob does unlock the car. The car is a 2002 Boxster S. Thanks for any assistance.

I re-worded my question, since my original question may have made some incorrect assumptions about the "key" button's function. Anyone care to educate the poor, defenseless newbie?

Check pages 38 and 39, in the MY03 Boxster Owner's Manual found here on RennTech. (I think you had earlier mentioned your car is a MY02 but I bet the information is the same for both MY's.)
