I have a 2000 boxster that is showing similar symptoms (but not the same) as some of the other posts on the site.

My specific symptom is if I open the door from the outside, the glass drops and raises immediately after the door handle is released. It does not stay in the dropped position.

If I jiggle the plastic latch/catch part in the door mechanism, I can get it to trip the switch and the glass will drop correctly, allowing me to close the door.

If I open the door from the interior however, it works fine -- the glass drops and stays dropped until the door is latched again.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Shane.

There is a micro siwthc in the latch assembly and it sound like it's on it's way out. I always replace all three micro switches when I have the door apart for these problems.

Definitely sounds like you need a new door latch. I would start with that and go from there. You can save yourself a bit of time by just taking the door panel off and unplugging the latch (without actually removing it from the door) and plugging the new latch in without installing it. It should correct the problem.
