Hmm... the light switch and front lid microswitch operate through the central locking/alarm control box.

I think that if the front lid microswitch is bad then the light won't come on either. Do you get a beep (alarm signal that a zone is open) when you lock the car?

I don't have a beep when locking the car with a single push of the button. A quick double push of the button will make the car beep. Where should I look for the microswitch - perhaps it's stuck or needs cleaning?

Another quick question. The interior light switches on the roof panel are not illuminated (at night with the lights on) but the sunroof switch is. Is this the way it is or are the drivers side, middle light and passenger light not working either?

The microswitch is embedded in the front latch assembly.

Have a look at the front latch adjustment DIY pics here.

Hmm... ant other odd electrical problems? (if so, then you might have a bad ignition switch).

A quick double push on the open/close button followed by a beep means interior alarm sensors off. ( in case you let your mother in law in the car and you lock the door by the remote ) The interior light switches on the roof panel are not illuminated over here.

Thank you for the on topic answer about the switches not being lighted. Back to the original post. Which fuse is the front trunk bulb? Thanks! 1999 Carrera 4.
