I just purchased my kit from Durametric and checked out my 2007 987S. Under the Motronic vehicle data it shows that the number of ignitions are as follows:

Number of ignitions range 1= 1/198h

Number of ignitions range 2= 1/198h

Number of ignitions range 3= 1/198h

Number of ignitions range 4= 1/198h

Number of ignitions range 5= 1/198h

Number of ignitions range 6= 0/0h

Operating hour counter = 287

1) Does this mean that my car was driven at high RPM ranges at 198 hrs? I purchased this car new and have never gone over ~ 6200 rpm. I did have the car in a body shop for a few weeks during Jan 2008 because I was rear ended.

2) Does the 1/198h mean that someone drove my car at excessive rpm one time or one ignition spark? Is that possible?

3) If so, is there a way to approximate that date? or am I worrying about nothing? or is my warranty toast? Thanks

I believe this means that there has been one incident at 198 hours when the engine was spinning between 8400 and 9500 rpm. This can happen with a missed shift - say you're accelerating to near redline in 4th, and hit 3rd instead of 5th. Clutch comes out and wham... The engine controls shut off fuel flow, and will not fire the spark once you hit range 1, but the momentum of the car can still spin the engine faster.

You can really only estimate when this happened (if you did it, you'd remember, I'm sure). 198/287=.689; if you have been consistently driving your car about the same amount of time and speed per month, you can estimate this happened 68.9% of your current odometer reading - check your service records to try to pin it to a date.

Can't comment on the status of your warranty - you'd have to check with the dealer.

Yep, looks like it was redlined once at 198 hours..

I'll post mine next week.... I hold the test car against the rev limiter for two miles at a time in 2nd gear, and sometimes just fire it up in neutral and hold it to the floor for several minutes at a time...

It's brutal and I love it.

We'll see what happens when i treat it like this with boost.
