I'm sure this is a dumb question, but do the sun visors on a 986 rotate to the side, or do they only flip up and down? I just picked up a 2002 Speed Yellow Boxster S on Saturday and couldn't for the life of me figure out how to turn the sun visor to the side.

(In case you're wondering, this is one of those cases in which the OP would PREFER to be told "You fool! Of course they rotate! All you have to do is _______!" rather than just being told "Yep, you're screwed, the visors don't rotate.")

TIA for any assistance.

The ones on my '04 do not. I would hazard to say yours don't either.

If they were rotated sideways and the top was opened or closed I am pretty sure they would be damaged if not

torn off, so I think Porsche did it intentionally.

Hmmm... Never had that problem on my, ahem, "other" convertible. But thanks for the reply. That answers my question at least. :)

They don't tilt on a 986 Boxster. But I wonder if it would be possible to swap them out for the 996 cab visors. Most of the front end is similar, but the roof maybe too different.

They do on a 996 cab.

Hmmm... The visors themselves look identical. I wonder if the inboard retaining clips from a 996 cab could be swapped in?

I did not see a way to do a simple swap. But maybe someday someone will do it.

My simple solution is that the ball cap I keep in the car for top down motoring rotates beautifully so that its brim accomplishes the same thing (although it looks a little weird tilted to one side or another. I send out the vibe that I'm a celebrity seeking anonymity behind my shades and tilted cap. So far it's evaded the fashion police!
