ignition switch - whole thing?

Hi, I was wondering if I can just replace the ignition switch and not the lock. I found the part on Pelican (4A0-905-849-B-M5155) for 12 dollars. I would like to replace the ignition switch to see if my problems are solved before spending over a hundred to replace the whole thing. I have a 1999 996 C4. Thanks for the help.

If you replace just the electric switch it will likely solve the problems for years to come.

If you want to upgrade to the newer style lock and switch you can do that too. It is just a much larger project.

Thanks, is PN: 4A0-905-849-B-M5155 the correct part to get? Also, if i am not changing the lock, do i have to remove the vent? Shoudl the battery be disconnected?
