Go to your dealer and ask them to perform TSB W501 - Rear Window Adjustment (Quality Improvement Workshop Campaign).

You might want to have them check and see if other Workshop Campaigns have also been performed.

The "Quality Improvement Workshop Campaign" was a series of fixes that were applied to early Cayenne's. Dealers were supposed to apply these updates/fixes at the next service.

Depending on your VIN and your car's options there could be up to 40 Workshop Campaign fixes that should have been applied.

If you have a CPO then they should have done these before they delivered the car to you. If they did not then they owe them to you.

I talked to the dealer, they said for the rear windows, the Quality Improvement Workshop Campaign only apply to 03 but not 04.

any suggestion? can I fix it myself?

thanks

That was not true, all us 04 people had it done, although there was a difficult line to draw since a lot of 04's were renamed 03's anyway (you can tell by VIN lookup)

Hi, this problem normally occurs by water entering the rear wiper cover and ultimately through a poorly sealed microswitch housing. There was a campaign and then a campaign to replace that one. If you dont use the glass that often then do the following: open the glass, remove the plastic cover around the glass side locking pin. there is a smal electrical connection in there. Unplug the connection, refit the cover and close the glass. It wont open again unless you use the remote control on the key. If you want to fix it properly, go to the dealer and purchase the latest part number microswitch. usually the part number changes when the part has been improved. from latter 05 onwards this issue was resolved. Let me know how you get on.

A good dealer would check it for you anyway. Sounds like you have a lazy dealer...

If the window is still popping open after you have changed the switch, it sounds like there is a short on the wiring loom that the switch connects to.

The wiring insulation could be chaffed, and must be contacting the chassis providing an electrical ground everytime you hit a bump, or if the mechanism is looking for power from the switch, you could have 2 wires in the loom shorting to one another everytime you do the 'bump' thing.

Inspection of the wiring loom will be required to confirm integrity.
