iPod Aux Probems - CDR-220 Won't Go Into Aux Mode

I bought one of the Blaupunkt Aux cables for my CDR-220 (http://www.midwestelectronics.com/blaupunkt-ipod-adapter-cable-p-36.html). I disconnected the CD Changer and put the Blue plug of the Aux cable in the back of the CDR-220. I followed the instructions for changing to AUX mode (holding down TP, scrolling to AUX, turning it on). I turned the radio off, then on. However, when I scroll through the options using the "S" key, CDC comes up, but no AUX. I did all of this without pulling the main power out of the CDR-220. Is that why it won't go into Aux mode? It never needed to ask for my radio code. My CDR-220 also has the Green (telephone) and Yellow connectors plugged into the back as well.

I put the radio in CDC mode and connected my iPod regardless. The display said CD 1 and showed track 1 on the screen. I heard the iPod loud and clear, but the iPod behaved strangely. This iPod has never malfuntioned before. The 60G Video iPod (5G), did not indicate that it was being charged, it crashed, then I got it running again, it played music, got hot, crashed again. I plugged and replugged the iPod into the AUX cable. It worked even though the iPod display said it wasn't compatible with this connector. The battery meter did some bizarre stuff though(went low then 3/4 charge in a matter of mintues. After testing for a few minutes, I pulled the 30 pin Apple connector from the bottom of the iPod. The iPod was hot and smelled a bit like hot plastic.

For about 20 minutes after that I played music on the iPod through headphones. It worked perfectly. Then it died. I think that the battery may be fried. It's non-responsive even when plugged into my Mac. I've ordered a replacement iPod battery to test out whether the whole iPod is fried or just the battery.

Why won't my CDR-220 show AUX on the display?

Is the CDC mode sending too much power to my iPod?

What would you guys suggest I do next?

Sorry to hear about your experience. I had seen that cable and considered using it myself but my research ( talking with becker) was never able to confirm if it would work.I would scrap the cable and call becker to fix the AUX selection issue. I use a cable that is able to charge the ipod however I was unable to get rid of the ground loop so never use the charging connection. Link for the cable i use

Becker also sells a cable that will power from back of CDR 220 I believe but it was over $100 when I enquired about a year ago.

I had the same issue with CDC coming up , the fix for that is go to the trunk and disconnect the L R audio inputs to the cd changer and also the third wire which i believe is the power. Eventhough the blue connector on the back of the radio has been disconnected and replaced with the Ipod cable the radio still somehow knows about the cd Changer. I still get hum on my ipod connection so i got to figure that one out
