Tom, here are the ranges for the 997. I am not sure if this is the same for the GT3 but I would bet it is very close:

The 6 ranges are:

Range 1: 7300-7500 RPM

Range 2: 7500-7700 RPM

Range 3: 7700-7900 RPM

Range 4: 7900-8400 RPM

Range 5: 8400-9500 RPM

Range 6: 9500-11000 RPM

Doesn't the GT3 redline at 8400 rpm? That being the case range 1 ought to start at 100 revs above that.

That may be true, be the OP asked about the 6 Over Rev Ranges. They are related, but not how you might think. Maybe someone else who is much more knowlegable than me, can explain better.

The 6 ranges for 997 GT3 are:
