Hi Guys.....

Someone is selling 2004 TT 996 with an engine that is "Not repairable". Millage 17000 only.

Is this possible?

would it cost alot to rebuild the engine?

Is this deal worth it if the rest of the car is sold for -say- 25 000 $?

Your insight would be helpfull...

Call a place like RUF and ask them what an engine replacement would cost. I bet it would be close to $30-35K because you would not have a core exchange (worth about $5K). Good luck. Proceed with caution. There are no "cheap" Porsches!

I would try and get the car at the best possible price! (assuming it is clean) 20K or less would be good! than contact a porsche dismanteler! there are many of these cars around that have been wrecked with good engines! You shoule be able to pick up a good used engine for about 10-12K (less turbos, ECU etc) or 15-20K complete, but be careful and ask alot of questions before buying, warrantly etc?
