Hi all,

I just bought the thicker steering wheel for my 2008 Cayenne S. I would like to ask you guys what tools do I need to replace existing wheel.

My understanding is that I need to:

1) Remove the airback - For that I need to disconnect the battery.

2) Remove the bolt that hold down the wheel. For this I need a special wrench but I have no idea which one. Can you please advise which one and where to find it?

Thank you.

There is no need for special tools, an ordinary socket wrench will work.

Thanks for the info!!!

I swapped the wheel today and I have to admit that the thicker wheel is awesome!!!

I only have a small issue with my airbag now - the airbag light stays on in the cluster.

Whel I removed the airbag I did not disconnect the battery, so I am thinking maybe that is the problem.

I am thinking that if I disconnect the battery now, maybe I will reset this fault. What do you think?

PS1: I am pretty sure that I connected the airbag correctly as I checked the connections twice.

PS2: How do I disconnect the battery? I have been looking in this forum, but I can't find clear directions.

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

ust wanted to share some pictures of the new steering wheel. Looks and feel great.

My only problem is that the airbag light is still on! Any advice would be appreciated.

Is there wheel swap procedures posted anywhere? I have a wood wheel on the way and am tempted to do it myself. My logic - if I trip the airback light and buy my own durametric to resent it, it will still

be cheaper and less hassle then the dealer. They are already giving me guff over not buying the wheel from them. I swear the cheaper the car the more easy going the dealers are.

that wheel is pretty sick, which one is it and where'd you pick it up? Mine is getting pretty worn and I'm looking for a new one

Yeah I love it. Great feeling - nothing like the standard. I bought it from my dealer, and installed it my self.

Make sure you disconnect the battery. Otherwise you will have to take it to the dealer to reset the airbag light.

There are instructions in this forum. Look it up. Easy to do. Just make sure you disconnect the battery before you do so.

which wheel and part number is it ?

Part number of the Padded (thicker) Steering Wheel is 955 044 400 01 5Z3. Please note that the last part (5Z3) indicates that the wheel is black.

If you need other colors please look it up with your dealer.

Only the wheels lined with wood are not available with heating.
