BS IMHO.

Do a search and read the comments here.

You will get more induction noise but no way 23+ HP.

Put you money into better tires or an upgraded suspension.

I replaced my air filter system with the K&N Filter and air intake system on my 1999 996. I don't know if it increased the HP, but it did make the car run smoother. I think if you read some of the threads from others, you will find that most people are pleased with the mod, if nothing else their cars seem to run smoother at idle.

I just installed the 57-7000 Kit on my '99 996 Cabriolet and it's noisier, but acceleration is smooth. The HP claim by K&N is actually documented in the peperwork included in the kit itself. It is a Dynojet Research graph which shows a 23.8 HP difference at 5500RPM. What I found interesting about the graph is that with the stock intake the Carrera hp goes up and back down between 5500 and 5900 RPMs. With the K&N Kit it's actually a smoother increase of HP through the RPM range. I'll report back in a couple of days.

Sorry, one dyno graph on a car that is not yours does very little to prove anything...you have no idea the conditions/ecu/other mods/environment....I'm with Loren on this...total BS

I use to mod alot, and I can tell you from experience that having an intake mod makes very little difference and the very little difference it makes (a matter of 5 hp or less) is only in the higher RPM's. I did not put an aftermarket intake on my porsche but I have put one on a Nissan and I noticed the lower RPMs was less responsible while the higher RPMs seem to be slightly faster. It is definitely not worth the money, unless you like the sound of an aftermarket intake. On top of that, if a simple intake mod would really produce an extra 23hp wouldn't you think Porsche, with a team of engineers, would have implemented that alraedy?

While not the same type of engine....I have put K&N Air Intake Kits on two Ford V8's, and each became more responsive in the lower RPM's; particularly noticeable from a standstill and around town. On some vehicles these things produce too much noise for my taste, which can be a very bothersome drone on long highway trips. A middle ground would be to install a K&N filter, but not the air intake kit.

It's been over a year now and I'm still standing behind this tiny investment. I did take it in and had it tested and on my '99 996 Cab my HP went from 290 hp at the wheel to 302 hp. Not a big difference but when combined with high performance tires, suspension, and other little improvements, you are a little closer to a 997 :-)

No complaints, no warning lights!
