does anybody have this problem? this just started happening to my car recently.

i got a 01 boxster s

when i use the radio everything is fine but then when i switch to a cd, (6 disc cd changer) sometimes i get this static noise and then it just gets louder to where you cant hear the song anymore..

i was wondering if there is a way to fix this.

ive tryed differnt cds and it does it to all of them but sometimes it doesnt do it.

Do you get the same static noise if you tune your radio to an AM station, or is it just limited to your cd playing?

Regards, Maurice.

It's a little confusing because you say it's intermittent.

In most cases of static, at least in the early Boxsters, it's most annoying on the AM stations. One of the first places to look is to the soundness of the grounds.

The ground that grounds the radio to the chassis of the car (solid brown, relatively thick wire from back of radio connector) and the ground of the antenna where it is fastened to the passenger side (right side) of the A-pillar, under the trim.

Pull the radio out of its bracket, play a cd, and when you get the static then connect a jumper between the brown ground wire at the back of the radio (in the connector) and the car's body (any large, unpainted bolt on the chassis will do). See if that eliminates or reduces the static.

Also, if you are going to disconnect the battery, be very sure that you have your radio security code first, otherwise you will not be able to "reactivate" your radio until you get the correct code.

Regards, Maurice.
