I have a 2001 Carrera with a fault code #4460 - ABS pressure sensor failure. The dealer advised I can not purchase the individual sensor, it only comes attached to the hydraulic module at a cost of $3,749.00. They did say the sensor can be disconnected from the module, however, it can not be ordered individually from Porsche.

Has anyone experienced this problem and are you aware of an after market supplier for the sensor?

Thanks.

Fault code 4460 Pressure sensor

Possible cause of fault

- Short circuit to ground/B+ or open circuit

- Plug connection on stop light switch faulty

- Incorrect adjustment of the stop light switch

- Wiring/plug connection between pressure sensor and control module faulty

- Pressure sensor faulty

Note! A malfunction of the stop light switch can cause this fault. The stop light switch must have switched before a brake pressure is recognised. When the brake pedal is actuated, the stop light switch and the brake lights are triggered. The brake pressure on the pressure sensor is 0 bar.

Have you checked your brake lights? If they are out then chances are your brake light switch is bad

Does you car have PSM? or Traction control?

I am looking at the hydraulic units in the parts list and the price seems at least $1000 higher than MSRP.

Thanks for the response.

I do have PSM and both the ABS and PSM lights are on. Both times it was checked the fault code was the same. The service manager stated the pressure sensor does disconnect from the hydraulic module, but you can only purchase them together. Do you have a part number?

I will call the dealer to see if they looked into the other possible causes and will check the brake lights before I call.

Any thoughts concerning third party suppliers for the sensor?
