Just wondering on my newish car done aroun 1000miles I ended up running out of gas (stupid i know) - just wondering if it does any damage to the car? The dealer assured me it didnt.....

Thnx

I agree with the dealership.

The worst thing about running the gas very-very low, on some cars (not sure about the Porsche) is that the fuel pumps are sometimes located in the tank, and the fluid helps to cool the pump. So, I think the fuel pumps could wear quicker in that type of set-up.

I also agree with the dealership. Running it bone dry is aggravating and embarassing (been there, done that) but doesn't hurt a modern car at all. Much older cars with different fuel setups could have problems picking up garbage from the bottom of the tank and clogging filters, etc. Not a worry for you.
