After a lengthy road trip, in 40 deg heat and lot of uphill, the check engine light went on.

The dealer diagnosed the problem as the oxygen sensor being faulty, ordered the wrong part, so it’s still not fixed.

During this road trip I only partially filled the gas tank (in the U.S.A. I needed to prepay, since my credit card didn’t work at the pumps). Could that have contributed to the problem ?

I reseated the gas cap, completely filled the tank, and for two more weeks the light was on. This morning it seems to have reset itself. I checked to make sure the bulb is not burned out.

I would like an opinion on whether I should replace the oxygen sensor anyway, which is what the dealer suggests ?

Potential causes:

– Catalytic converter

P11402 does not exist.

If the CEL does not come back I would not worry.
