First post here... I'm in Greenville, S.C. Was headed to lunch today on Woodruff Road, and saw a 987 sitting at the light, facing me. Only a handful in town, and this will be my next car, so it stood out. Black or very dark blue, and wearing a bra, but the radiator inlets in the front bumper cover appeared to be shaped like the ones in the spy shots I've seen on the 'Net. Headlights had a bit less round shape. Unfortunately, didn't get a look at the taillights to see if they looked to be the new ones.

Just wondering if the new car might be on the ground Stateside, or if the drought has finally started causing 404 errors from my brain. We see so many BMW preproduction cars here that no one notices any more, and may have even seen a Blue Devil back in the day. Porsche has no presence here that I know of besides a third of a dealership, however, Michelin's NA HQ is about 5 minutes away. Thinking they may have been burning some PS2 down at the Laurens proving grounds.

Been hoping to hear soon if the base Boxster will get direct injection, could an answer be 'round the corner?

I think the answer is - no one knows yet and Porsche NA ain't talking. The most believable thing I have heard is that new 987s will start to appear in early spring as a 2010 model. I have heard that only the S will get the DFI motor. But this seems a little unlikely as they would have to have two motor production lines running simultaneously. The only way I see the old motor in the 2010 base model is if they have left-over old stock they want to get rid of. But with CAFE regulations, I see them moving to DFI across the board ASAP.

Regards,

Alan
