Hi Guys!

My transmission on my car died, so i decided to go for a porsche 911, and my favorite are the one from 79 to 83

I've found a local porsche (bay area, CA) for 7500; is a 1980 targa; in fair conditions (needs some body works on the front spoiler and on the top, plus other mechanical stuff that i have to estimate before having a real idea....going to test the car today); so i wonder if you guys can help me to get more knowledge about what are the problems of these models; and maybe suggest me a fair and honest place that sell old SC and that has a good shop.

After by transmission blew off my A6; i discovered that is a common thing, but was not mentioned anywhere until late 2006, when the warranty was expired, so this time i wanna be careful and get all the info about any possible issue on these models.

Could you please help me? and if you have a car that you wanna sell (in good conditions of course....got already my dose of people that wanna rip me off lol) feel free to contact me; i am in south bay area :)

Thanks a lot! hope to get the SC soon, so i can subscribe to the Porsche club and meet other users if this amazing car.

Take your time. There are lots of nice SCs to be had, especially here in northern Cali. Buy Pete Zimmerman's book. Look for it on amazon.com. Also, check other boards that have classified sections, ie, Pelican. Good luck!
