Hello folks....,

From a couple of weeks now i get once in a while the P1411 or 0410 codes on my Boxster 1999, i reseted the codes but now it's time to fix it once for all.

As the Air pump works correctly,it is easy to know that the problem is the electric change over valve and thte non return valve.

I had a look at the workshop manuel but nowhere they said how to fix it and what to do to replace the valves.

The only thing they said is that the valves are located under the trottle body or semewhere close to but not exactly how to replace it.

Is one of you know how to fix it and if so please let me know

If your car is a tip don't forget to check the vacuum operated coolant valve on the tiptronic heat exchanger. Its also known to fail and cause these faults. Also check the vacuum resevoir.

The change over valve and the non return valve are easy to find. Just follow the hose coming off the secondary air pump as it runs under the bank 1 intake manifold. If you have the right tools you can manage to get them out without removing the intake.

My question is.....If the problem is the coolant valve located on the heat exchanger (my car is effectivly a Tiptronic) what kind of symptom i can fill when the valve does not work properly.I'm still not sure but it looks like just before the check engine light open the tranny does not shift as usualy...

Its possible that you might feel it shift differently due to changes in shift strategy by the control unit due to the transmission fluid temp being at a slightly different temperature than whats optimal.... but I highly doubt it. Pulling vacuum on the valve will tell you quickly if its bad or not. Its a pretty common failure.

Everybody that looking for answer on those two codes I spent a month and half figuering out and erasing CEL before I find out solution on this issue. So for everybody at Renntech it is here. Most common problem with those two codes are two items Secundary air shut off valve (165$) or electric change over valve (27$). following link will give you chance yto download an parts manual for 986 04' where page 48-50 pdf doc depicts system and location of components.

following the links and Porscha club suggestions they are claimimg that Secundary air shut off valve is notorios bad component on system on Boxters that " reccommending to have an part on reserve access is must" considering the number of failures in history. On my Boxter 2002 I have replaced both air shut off valve as well as electric change over valve. If you are looking to change those components by yourself word of wisdom "it is tough Little SOB and it is hidden under manifold intake. Only way to access those two parts are remove alternator, and I have also removed accessories above between intake manifold so Ican access partially to both parts. Secondary air shut off valve sits and it is actually bolted with two 10 mm bolts bolted from under to top thathold valve with base (2000 and above), while pdf page 48 depicts part that is actually found on 97-2000,(slightly different design, and part number too) that are knuckle braker to remove but even bigger hustle to reinstall them(in my experience). Even with alternator removed there is little space to work to R&R new part without getting really many scars on hands.

I 'll try to upload pic if anybody changing by itself so it can positively ID both parts.

Hello folks....,

I finally changed the 2 valves (the electric valve and the other one change over valve) on my Porsche 1999 Boxster but the check engine light still open almost each morning.

I finally took a rendez vous to the ''stealer'' for the next monday.

The codes thats apear almont each morning are always the same p0410 and p1411.

I can hear the pump working but the stupide light is still there.

This morning i called the dealer for the price of the Relay....$27.00....cheap.but the guy a the Porsche parts (a good friend of mine) told me that he does not have this part in stock because he never sold this part before....and he is working for Porsche dealer for more then 8 years now.

Any idea....i don't want to spent a thousand box for a '' fu)(*&''check engine light.

Hello folks.......,

Just a follow up of my rendez vous at the Porsche dealer today.

All i can say is that i received a really good service at a good price.

I first met the Porsche mechanic and explained to him that i changed last week the non return valve and the electric change over valve.

He immediatly said that i probably changed these parts for nothing because most of the time the problem is the air change over valve.

So he used the computer and showed me that effectively the air change over valve was bad.

He changed the valve in less then an hour and now everything is supposed to be fixed....we'ill see but the mechanic was sure about his diagnostic.

So guys if you ever have problem with your check engine and codes p0410 and p1411 first go to the Porsche dealer and then he will tell you what is exactly your problem and it will cost you less then a hundred boxes to know it .
