Recently, the top on my boxster got stuck and I had to manually close the top. Unfortunately, while waiting for my appt to get the top fixed, it rained and water leaked into the floor on the passenger side(about an inch of H2O). I may need to replace the carpet if it doesn't dry out nicely. I had gotten an estimate of $2400 for parts/labor(1300/1100). However, I can order the carpet myself for $600 (986 551 011 02 EEW). Does anyone know how easy it would be to remove and replace the carpet? I only need to replace the part on the passenger side floor, however, I think the carpet is sold as one piece for the whole interior. Do I need any special materials/tools?

Thanks,

Brian

The carpet is not glued down. You remove the seats, center console, and the side plastic things in the sills.

For some reason B) porsche does not have drains in the seat pans. This is a problem if there is water under the drivers side as there is an expensive control unit under the seat. Not so on the passenger side.

If it bothers you I would remove the seat and the storage thing in the sill and then lift up the carpet to dry.

I'm glad to find this topic, and here is my question:

Removing the center console is easy, but I'm scared to remove the stuff under it (the highlighted portion in the pic). Any advice or sugguestions?

Somewhere there are instructions for a B&M shift install which involves removing the center console. Once it is out then you will see how easy it is. You remove the shift tower and parking brake. Each is bolted with 4 nuts.
