creaking and clunking noise under car

Hi All

I have a creaking and clunking when I move forward or reverse . It sounds like it is just under the arm rest in the gearbox engine area. It happened a few months ago and then dissapeared, at that time I thought it was the handbreak (It thought the cable was sticking)as it did not happen if it was not used. Now it is back ant every time I take off in forward or reverse.

I did have the car up on four jackstands to replase my clutch slave cylinder and I used the engine jacking point it started the noise when I finished the work .

Could this be an engine mount(how do i inspect the engine mount and how do i identify a failed one)

Any greasing points on the 996 that need grease?

Any suggestions to the problem noise and apossible solution

Might be the clutch. Also, look at your CV

boots for any cracks.

If it happened after jacking onthe engine then it is likely engine mounts.

Inspect the transaxle mount, they have been known to fail and I believe the part has been updated.
