996 & Tall driver (6.6)

Hello, I am in the process of buying a used 996.

Here's my problem. I am 6.6 and I would really appreciate more legroom <_<

I will buy the car anyway and will figure out some kind of modification no matter what :)

Do you have any suggestions that have been tried out and work? (New seats, new seat rails, seat rail extension, new steering wheel, ...)

GT3 seats will help. But they are more narrow and $$$.

Buy a 997...more leg room.

One of my friends had this trouble in his Shelby Cobra replica. He removed the seat tracks and drilled new holes for the seat to bolt it in further back. That's kind of an extreme option for a 996, but it might work.

Brey-Krause had a special seat rail kit that lowers GT3 seats (not stock seats).

Brey-Krause really has brackets that mount the GT3 seat to the floor, thus gaining more headroom (and also some more legroom I guess). Do these brackets also enable the seat to be mounted further to the back?

Hi,

I'm 6.5 and I found that removing the lower centre console and replacing with the console delete

kit ( as per gt3) helped a lot as it gives more room to splay your leg out.

Did the same on my 986 (Boxster) and it helps a lot...

I also added Kirkey seats, bolted to the floor. I would recommend a set of Recaros or Sparcos (brackets are easier to find and they look nicer than the Kirkeys). I personally found the GT3 style not very comfortable. I would also add sliders, which I didnt do in the driver's side because they increase the height by one inch and, since I need to clear the 'broomstick test', every inch counted.
