I recently purchased a used 2001 996 C4 with navigation (PCM). It did not come with the CD for New England (where I live) or for that matter, anywhere else. I have been attempting to find out which CD is appropriate for my PCM unit. The unit tells me that I am running PCM Software version 5.44. Can anyone tell me the latest CD version that will work in my car? And, if so, where is the best place to get it? Thanks for the help!!

Sylvan

The two locations mentioned: one does not work and the other, for later cars, is correct. Navtech is the correct place EXCEPT they no longer list the CD's for 2001 cars. The research on this group indicates that the CD I need is version 2001.1. The others will not work. Does anyone have a copy they want to sell or make a copy for me? I am happy to pay for it. My navigation is absolutely useless without it! Thanks! E-mail me at sylvan@sylvanwells.com.

i ran into the same problem here in the states. you may actually want to look at some of the cool replacements that some of the users have posted on the forums. the stock units are limited at best. there are drop-in double din size replacements that are upgradeable, have touch screen capability, larger screen, etc. one unit is the kenwood dnx7120. it even has a remote control and ipod capability.

there are others out there. i just thought that this one looked pretty nice.

good luck!

I finally got a navigation CD! All is well with a system that is so long out of date. Thanks.

Sorry to drag this up, but where did you get your copies? I just purchased a 2001 911TT and have no discs for it either. Seems like I would need the 2001.1 version as well.

HELP!!! :) :)

I just want the map to work, i have my own portable navigation that I use, but it looks pathetic when someone mentions you have NAV and it doesn't even work!

I bought a new Disc from Navteq for my 2001 Boxster S. A new tom tom is a better dollar value, but like you said having it not work is unacceptable. Where the stuff is dated in new subdivisions, not highways and interstates for the most part. I made a copy of the disk and use it in the car and keep the original safe.

I wanted to do the same thing . . .May I ask how you made a copy? I tried just copying the files onto a blacnk CD but this just locked up my Nav unit. Thanks!
