Will radio removal affect Immobilizer?

Have searched the archives to no avail. I've just recently purchased a 1998 Carrera S which had a "killer" stereo system" installed by the previous owner. I hate it and would like to revert back to a stock system. All I want to hear is the sweet sounds of the engine! Can I remove the current head and run without a radio without upsetting the Immobilizer system? (I wouldn't want to make it mad!) Obviously, the current aftermarket system didn't upset it but I'm wondering if the Immobilizer just senses that there's a radio installed and doesn't care what it is. If it needs to "see" a load, would a low-value in-line resistor between the keyed 12v. power line and ground do the trick? Thanks for your advice and expertise.
