Any 3.6 liter muffler will work fine on a 3.4 liter car. (The reverse is not true).

I don't think the 40 year model got the sport exhaust - at least it does not show on the order guide.

PSE wasn't part of the x51 package??

I don't believe so - not in MY2004. In MY2004 X51 and PSE were separate options.

How about in 2003? Could you order PSE without X51?

:welcome:

Yes, PSE has been a separate option since the beginning - I have it on my MY99.

I just bought the 996 40th; how can I tell if I have the PSE option on it or not? Will the vin nbr have this information?

The 40th Anniversary Coupe had the following (no PSE) as standard:

3.6 Liter Flat 6 cylinder engine with vario-cam producing 345 Horsepower.

6-speed manual transmission with double inertia flywheel and hydraulic clutch.

Motronic electronic accelarator pedal with solid-state distribution.

Sport chassis with more rigidly tuned springs, shock absorbers and stabilizer bars.

One-piece light alloy wheel, shot-blastet polished 18’’ Carrera II wheels.

Brake calipers painted in black.

Porsche Stability Management System (PSM).

Anti-lock braking system (ABS).

Braking system with 4-piston monobloc fixed alloy calipers and ventilated brake disks.

Front end with enlarged cooling-air opening, lateral air intake grill in GT silver metallic.

Automatic power windows with tip up/down.

Electric sliding roof, tip-open/tip close, with automatic wind deflector and tilt function.

Heated seats with adjustable heating range.

Outside mirrors are electrically adjustable and heated.

Automatically deployed rear spoiler.

Integrated third brake light.

Emblem on rear deck lists “40 Jahre Limited Edition”

Bi-Xenon-Headlamps with headlamp cleaning system.

64-liter gas tank.

Driver and passenger front and side airbags.

Seatbelt pretensioner with belt-force limitation.

Central locking with remote control and alarm.

Front and center console with storage compartment and lockage glove box.

Roofliner in Alcantara.

Automatic full climate control.

Extractable cup-holder in front center console.

Digital Radio with in dash CD.

PSE would have to show on your option list as IXLF.

You wil have a button the the left side of the horse shoe with a picture of a exhaust tail pipe if it was factory installed.

I just got my 40th Anni this week, and I noticed it did not come with the third radiator that many books claim they have.

Really love the car!!

Congrats!

The 40th Anniversary Edition has the C4S/Turbo style front bumper with larger radiators at each side - no 3rd radiator.

Ah, so the two side radiators are actually larger than standard 996? Thats nice to know.

Frankly I'm just amazed with the performance. I have owned two 930's and two 914-6 3 liters and I can say the 996 Anni has them beat in every way.

Cheers, Paul
