Winter Tire Suggestions '02 C2

Hello,

I know it may be odd thinking about winter tires in July but I like to plan ahead. I recently purchased a ’02 C2 Cab, Tip, PSM, 18”. I am thinking about the TireRack set up of 17” Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 w/ the Turbo Twist knockoff rims. Any suggestions about the quality of various winter tires or the fact that I will be dropping diameter? I think another complete set of wheels may be the easiest way to manage winter driving here in Philly.

There is a website called 1010tire, and they have detailed tire reviews. I would start looking there.

I went with ContiWinterContacts because they had better ratings than the Blizzaks. I was pleased with them and they never let me down. Except once on a patch of ice, and another time on hard packed snow (I should have used chains). But both those situations are tough for any non studded snow tire.

Also, a second set of rims is nice but not necessary.

I have used Pirelli and Blizzaks for winter tires. The Blizzaks are far better than the Pirellis and have not developed the roar that forced me to dump the Pirellis long before they were worn out. I also use 17" rims for winter use.
