Week 1 of ownership and got my Durametrics via UPS today. The following Alarm codes are showing after a removal of the original porsche phone installation and new install of a parrot.biz 3200LS handsfree kit.

It seems the first two codes may void each other, so its the third code that Im looking for a solution for. The 2000 Boxster RHD beeped once on pressing the key remote to lock prior to the install, but now beeps twice.

Should I get the people who installed the handsfree kit to repair as their microphone is very close to those alian like infarred sensors located near the roof lock down handle, or is it an unrelated problem?

There is no moisture under the seat even though it was left outside during very heavy downpour a few days ago, so at least I know the roof has no leaks :D

Also, its only been a week but I'm really enjoying driving it, but I notice abit of slide pushing it around corners despite having Pirelli PZero's on it!

Fault 33 Passenger compartment monitoring sensor faulty

Fault 34 Passenger compartment monitoring sensor Short circuit to B+ or faulty

Fault 59 Central locking limit position Safe not reached

The fault 33 and 34 say that the passenger side compartment sensor is likely faulty.

Fault 59 is fairly common and is thought to be possible if you press the lock on the remote before the door is closed. Usually nothing to worry about.

As Loren said 33/34 are common failures of the motion system. Mine have failed and do not impede the use of other security features. So basically I'm starting that the system will still operate with these faults present.

I think I will take it back to the guy who installed the handsfree car kit and see if he will take the blame for the pax side sensor and fix it. I dont like the doulbe horn beep one was enough!

I'm guessing your 59 error is the one disengaging the alarm system. I know the other two can fail and still arm the system.

2 beeps means there is an uncorrectable alarm fault.

1 beep usually means one zone is open.

After a closer inspection today it seems the fuel filler cap whilst making the sound to lock does not have a pin in it to lock the filler cap. Secondly after pulling off the drivers side alien eye sensor in the central roof lock area one sensor has no LED looking bits so maybe they misplaced it when they instsalled my hands free kit last week??

Anyways I will work on getting them both fixed but interesting to note the fault code comes up with passenger side for RHS cars, very German!

How does the infrared motion sensor come into play with the install of the handsfree system? Why would they have even touched that installing such a system?

The microphone is up near the alian like sensors in the upper centre console, he didnt plug back in the sensors so that got rid of the doulbe beep when using the alarm. I presume the single beep now refers to the fuel filler lid not engaging. Poked a rod in there and cant feel the bit that should slide through to lock the fuel lid does anyone know how to fix that or the part number?

Also back to those alian eye sensors only one side has LED looking bits over the chip, the other side just has the chip exposed, is that normal or should both sides have the LED looking sensors?

I understand now.

When I bought my 97 986 both alien eyes were missing, I found them under the seats when I pulled them for a deep cleaning. I do recall the LEDs are only on the driver side and look like 6-8 black spider eyes. The right side has a small IC board with 4 chips on them which I do not know what they do. I figured they were two different types of motion sensing.

If yours is the same configuration then I think you are the same as me and most likely OK.

Additionally, mind doesn't have a locking gas cap so not input there. You mentioned something with the doors before and I'm sure that is your double beep if still present.

My failed motion sensors only give a durametric error and present no beep or failure in the use of the system. Door alarms work just fine.

Thanks rsfeller good to hear my alien eyes are normal, strange set up though. I am surprised the fuel lid does not have a lock though, I am sure I can hear a motor trying to do something around there when I arm the car. Germans . . . LOL

The fuel door does have a lock and it is part of the factory alarm system.

Do I have to remove the fender to fix this? That alone could be a nightmare let alone finding the part number for the sliding lock. Im sure I can hear the thing trying to lock when I activate the alarm. Hey Loren, can you confirm the alian lick things are different on each side?

I got the tossa who put the handsfree kit in to fix it so I only get One beep now. Had to take it back twice coz he pinched the microphone wire when reconnection an alarm cable he forgot to do!

No, you do not remove the fender.

Very handy Loren, I havnt been on since I got the first service coz its been a total joy. During that first service I gave them a printed copy on how to fix the fuel door and they did the job. Now the fuel lid locks which is great. I doubt they would have bothered without your DIY guide, very handy and thanks :D
