Does anyone know if the Cat converters from a 2003 C4S will fit my 1999 C2. The only noted difference is the placement of the oxygen sensors. On the C2 Cats the sensors are before and after the Cat. On the C4S Cats there is one before and one in the middle of the Cat.

I need to replace one Cat and these were free low millage..

Thanks

Has me a little confused also as the tech sheets for the 996 show the sensors before and after the Cat (same with the ones on my C2). But the Cats I have from the C4S have a senor mounting hole before and then one right in the middle of the Cat. No mounting hole after...

Are you sure where they came from?

Do you have a pic and part number(s)?

Loren,

Yes they came off a 2003 C4S. The part number is 99611303. Picture attached. Tech sheet for the 997 shows the sensor in the middle of the Cat but these are clearly stamped 996.

I don't remember seeing one like that on a 3.6 liter (but I am old and my memory is not as good as it used to be).

Perhaps a 3.6 liter owner could look at theirs and confirm one way or the other.

Loren,

You are not that old. I looked at a 2004 996 and it has the same design as my 99. Even the tech manuals for the 996 show before and after the Cat. The 997 shows it in the middle of the Cat. I'm confused..

That makes two of us then - I agree the 997 cats have the sensor in the middle.

Will it work? Who knows - the DME in the 997 is different and may have a program for that cat.
