Sorry, I have another question...

After pressing the lock button on my 1997 Boxster, I get the marker lights flashing after about an hour, totally random. I can lock the car with the remote, and all looks fine, about an hour later, the marker lights flash. You can press the alarm button to clear the issue and open the car. When unlocking, you hear the doors unlock, and the markers flash once.

When you lock it with the remote, it takes 30 to 60 minutes for the lights to start flashing. If you let it flash, it goes for about 5 minutes, and then stops. Is this some kind of false alarm? Any insight appreciated. Thank you.

Flask.

You really need to get a diagnostic check done with a PST2, PIWIS, or Durametric and see what fault codes come up.

Maybe it is an alarm condition, and someone in the past has disconnected the alam horn, so you are only getting the marker lights flashing. If you leave the centre console compartment open and lock the car, do you get a single beep from the alarm horn?

I don't get the horn beep, and it looks to be connected. I'm going to bring it in and see what they come up with. Thanks!

Did you figure this out? I have the same issue with my 1998.

As Richard Hamilton said "You really need to get a diagnostic check done with a PST2, PIWIS, or Durametric and see what fault codes come up."

These testers will tell you exactly what is wrong - no guessing.

I am having the exact same problem right now.

I'm still having the issue and the Durametric shows no fault codes, has anyone figured this out? Is there any way to get the Durametric to read the alarm system's computer logs?

Did you check the alarm horn (near the battery)? Test it with 12 volts to see if it is working or not.

Only other choice you have is to put a PST or PIWIS tester on it and manually test each switch, sensor and lock. Not hard to do but the Durametric can not (yet) do these tests it can only read faults.

Yes the horn is getting 12V, but it's sound is tinny. I suspect a previous owner "silenced" it. Too bad PST2s are so expensive.

silenced it? I doubt it,,,

Probably the faulty horn zone.

My problem turned out to be the center console switch. Bypassed the switch and so far no alarm. Keeping my fingers crossed.

One more problem though is my horn. It seems though the rubber spacing when pressing the horn has fallen out of place or something. When I turn you can actually hear the relay clicking away as if I were rapidly pressing the horn until I straighten the steering again. The horn does not work since I think this shorting has blown the fuse.

Does anyone have the fuse box diagram so I can check which is the horn fuse and replace it.

Fuse B3. Do a search and you'll find many links on how to repair the bushings in the horn plate. A new one IIRC is $50+ and would require all the same steps so why not just repair for under $5.
