Thanks to everyone for all the helpful info I've learned thus far concerning my 2001 Boxster. Just joined this forum and it's great!

I've owned it for only 2 weeks and have already done al ot of trim and detail work based on everyone's advice and knowledge. Much appreciated!

Now for what I came here for....

My '01 has had a "rubbing" noise coming from the rear since I took ownership. It's very noticeable at all speeds when I've got the top up, but barely audible with the top down. I've got a feeling it was was wrecked, but haven't gotten around to doing a Carfax history report. Doesn't really matter, as I would have bought it anyway (got a great price on it).

Can anyone give me some possibilities? There's no noticeable performance issues and no wobbling or vibrations to indicate something is loose. I guess I'm looking for possibilities I can explore before taking it to the dealer and getting a huge repair bill before even owning it for a month. I'm hoping it just might be a brake/pads issue.

I know there's not a lot of background on this one, but any brainstorming would give me a little hope that I can keep it out of the dealer's workshop for just a little while.

Thanks in advance!
