Has anyone bought and installed a fiber glass GT3 areo kit front bumper?

My factory areo front bumper is demaged and thinking about getting a fiber glass one.

What do you think?

hey Kam,

I had that on my old Boxster and the bumper is identical to the orginal PU and perfect fit.

but the only thing is to remind the painter to bake the bumper before painting!

Do you mean baking the unit as shipped before painting? Why?

Thanks

yeah, baking the unit will release some tensions in the GFK structure and then paint it, otherwise the paint could crack after dry up.

that's what I have heard, but your paint-shop should know better.

Is the fiberglass GT3 front bumper cheaper than the "factory" one? I have been looking for a GT3 (aerokit) front bumper for my 2003 coupe and the good deals are nearly imnpossible to find - so far the best is $1700 from Brandywine. I was hoping to find for $1000 or less.

thanks for any info

Thanks a ton! That website looks great but I can't understand a lick of it..lol. I have an idea of what going on just by the pictures though :D I think I might buy that one that you sent me with the eBay.de link Is there any disadvantage to getting fiberglass rather than the real deal except for having to bake it before it is painted?

Thanks again for the lead

the disadvantage w/ GFK is, when you accidently bump into something the GFK will crack easier than the PU-Rim bumper!

the GFK is less flexible material than the PU but then the original PU cost you as double, so you could have an accident and still end up with the same cost as a PU, but an additional paint cost of course.

Mr. Rossow at PHG Automotive is a really a nice guy, known him personally over 3 year now, he is also into motorsport.

cheers,
