Hi everybody,

i'd like guys to have your opinion about a little dilema.

I'm about to buy otherwise a 993 carrera S or a Carrera 4S and I don't know which one to choose.

If know exactly the technical specs of those two models, but i don't know which one is the most desirable and collectible.

It would be more a collector, than a real driver, because i already have an upgraded C2 for the track.

I'd like to buy of course the car with best residual value in case i would have later to sell it to upgrade to a Twin Turbo.

The production figures show that the carrera S was produced at 3714 units and the carrera 4S at 6948 units;

so the carrera S should be more valuable than the 4S?

Here are the offers i have, both cars coming in same condition with same mileage and for the same price:

1998 Porsche 993 Carrera S Black on Black

1996 Porsche 993 Carrera 4S White on Black

Does anybody have an opinion about that?

cheers

I would skip both, and go right to the 993TT. Market is great right now for cash buyers.

I agree about perhaps buying the TT, if you can afford it. If not though, I would probably side with the Carrera S. Why? The 2WD 'S' was only available in 1997/8 while the C4S was available in prior years. I won't enter into the mechanical debate of 2WD vs. 4WD as enough's been written on that and as far as I'm concerned unless you really need it there's little advantage to 4WD over 2WD. I am partial I admit as I own a Carrera S. That said, they are in demand and highly desirable.

Either an S or a 4S....

but with a 3800cc engine, that make the car almost unique.

I have a 4S with such an engine, and in italy only 8 of them still are driveble....

You could ask as much as 20000$ more than std 4S...so this make them collectable.....I think

cheers
