Finally found the time to look into this one.

I had a CEL for Camshaft position sensor on Bank 1.

I Had the AOS recently replaced and i thought there might be a connection.

The Plug going to the sensor was Not connected properly and with a long screw driver i pushed it a bit till it clicked.

So far no CEL - 1 mile test drive that previously was enough to trigger the CEL.

My question is - will a unplugged Camshaft position sensor cause a less than best performance??? and why??

After i fixed it seemed to run a little bit better. (im wondering if i might be illusioning myself :) )

The signal from CMP sensor 1 identifies the first cylinder. If both the crankshaft position (reference mark) signal and the CMP sensor signal coincide, this signifies the ignition timing for cylinder 1.

The recognition of cylinder 1 is necessary for the purpose of sequential fuel injection and knock control.
