Hey guys,

A couple days ago - I turned on the front wipers on my 2000 996 cabrio and the drivers side wiper arm went a little nuts...it got caught up on the other arm and smacked into the windshield...when i got home I tried to figure out the issue...i can hear the wiper motor turning and it seems like its trying "to grab" the wiper arm but it keeps slipping...also i can raise and lower the arm along the windshield when the car is off (i don't think that should be happening - as the other arm is "locked")...i'm thinking there is some type of lock or nut that may be loose, broke or stripped...anyone have any ideas/experience?

Thanks!

Probably loose nut under the round arm cover, take a look and tight the nut with the wipers in off position and the key out of the ignition for security reasons.

yep - that turned out to be the culprit - a quick tighten with a ratchet did the job...thanks for the heads up...

I just had the same thing happen to me tonight - driver's side arm went all the way to the left - stayed there - and I could push it back into place but it kept going wonky and getting caught up in the other wiper...I'll check it out in the morning - thanks for posting!
