Hey guys,

While I've got all engine exposed, I was interested in people's experiences from putting on a Cold Air Intake kit? Looking for recommendations on type, cost, and complexity of changing it out. Appreciate your inputs!

My advice is - save your money.

None will give you any more HP, perhaps a little more induction noise, and most often a damaged MAF.

Really? No more HP gains? I figured there had to be a "little" performance gain. Hmm that's surprising as most vehicles tend to have a bottleneck in the stock exhaust / intake configuration.

What about exhaust?

You will likely get a small bump (less than 10 HP) from headers and sport exhaust.

The plain answer is Boxster's and Carrera's are pretty much maxed out - if you want a lot more more trade for a Turbo.

The Turbo's actually respond very well to exhaust and chipping.

Hmm, so just out of curiosity, yer suggesting swapping the 3.2L Enginge for a turbo engine? What does a swap of this nature typically run now a days and how custom of a shop would I need to bring it to?

I agree with Loren.Edit: (his previous post about no improved HP - not the turbo comment - and I don't think he is suggesting a Boxster turbo - maybe a 911 turbo :) )

We have one, sounds really good - but does not add any HP ( dyno 226HP rear tires on dynojet roller).

We have run our stock exhaust with BB muffler on the track against a $7,000 custom intake/exhaust/chipped improved Boxster S and there is no difference on the straight away speed and because of better tires ate him up in the corners.

Take care,

Ed
