I've used 20-50 regular oil in my sc for years, and wouldn't use any oil higher than that. I have 15-50 synthetic in my C4s and that might be better in a colder climate for your sc. good luck, enjoy the car.

I use Castrol 5w-50 synthetic in my spouse's Lexus suv, and Mobil 1 15w-50 in my C4s. I'm pretty sure the 15w-50 is approved for the C4s, yes?

I just use 20-50 Royal Purple Syn. Awsome oil !

Mobil 1 has been substantially reformulated and is not the same oil as the Mobil 1 we knew and loved. It now has no ZDDP, which is very necessary for a hard-driven flat-tappet engine like an SC's. I use Brad Penn, as do a lot of older-Porsche operators now.

I used fossil oil in my early cars mainly because that was all that was around when they were made.

As long as you change your oil regularly fossil oils are fine.

HI, DO NOT use fully synthetic oils in cars up to 993, because these oils are damaging the oil pump.It's true.

We use SHELL SUPER HELIX in 964's and 911(T)1973-we will use this one too when the car will be ready.

DO NOT use CASTROL in PORSCHE.

Yes, the newer cars get synthetic oil because they are designed for them. This discussion is in the 1965-1989 911 section.
