Oil usage

Hi

My 97 c2s uses a quart to a quart and a half of oil every thousand miles. It has 107k miles with no leaks. I drive 60% in the city and the rest on open roads. I dont drive it very hard. Is this normal?

Only on start up from cold and not a lot. After a min or two there is no smoke. That oil use is not normal no?

Porsche says 1 quart every 600 miles is "acceptable".

I think it all comes down to what is acceptable to you. If it were my car and it used more than 1 quart every 1000 miles and there was exhaust smoke - I think I would look for causes and fix the problem.

Would getting the valve guides fixed be a big job?

The heads need to come off and go to a machine shop to insert the new valve guides.

I guess you could wait until it gets worse.
