Hi all,

new owner of a Cayenne S model year 2004. Had a C2 01 before but "had" to switch to a car with more room..no regrets though!

I have a slight issue with the fuel pump sounding a bit too much.. When I exit the car with engine on I can clearly hear the "humming" of it through the engine sound. Both me and my wife thought the sound was a moped or something in the distance hehe..It sounds like a pump should and not like it is damaged or so I guess..t

I suspect it is the fuel pump since the exact same sound is heard for a couple of secs when I first open the drivers door in the morning. As I understand it the pump pre-loads the pressure to get the motor started more easily..

Anyone else but me that has this problem (if it is a problem) or am I just being too sensitive? Just had the car for 1 week so perhaps this is normal.

Cheers

It's normal to hear electronic fuel pump sound. Beside, having a Porsche I do own Merc. and BMW and they all sound the same and noticeable.

Alright cheers!

I never heard it on the C2 and you know how it is, you have this sound and then you hear it all of the time and it gets on your nerves :-)

Again thanx for clearing this out!

Have a nice weekend all.

I don't think it's normal. I've heard the pump prime a few times but can't hear it over a running engine. Perhaps it the electric coolant pump, I've heard these pumps make noise and Porsche has issued a TSB on the problem.

uhmm d-mn.. I'm pretty sure it is the fuel-pump as it is the exact same noise as when the pump primes..

I'll check it out with Porsche..
