Air Pump

Hello to all of the Porsche fans!

Question for you all, has the air pump (the high pitch sounding device that comes on opon ignition) been known to go bad? Well, I think it's where the intermittent noise is coming from when I fire up the engine. It's a '99 911 C4.

It sounds almost like the noise the starter makes when it's going bad, however it sounds like it's spinning alot faster. Actually I thought it was the starter untill I realized the starter motor was still actually turning the engine when what appears to be the pump was making the sound. Dunno! :unsure:

Try unplugging it before you start the car and see if the noise is not there.

Don't forget to plug it back in or you will get a CEL.
