LED 3rd brake light

Hi,

I have had a LED 3rd brake light on my car for six months and it has been working great, but now I also replaced my pop-up wing with one too. The pop-up one does not work with the LED light. I know that the LED lights have less wattage and that might cause the problem, but is there any way I can fix it?

Are you sure you have the polarity correct?

He probably has the one like I did and it works great on the car but will not work on the spoiler. The connector can not be taken apart to switch wires to switch them around.

I bought two for my cab from Carnewal. Both worked great for six months or so, then both stopped working. Switching the polarity did not help. Put the old red ones back. Still trying to figure out what is wrong with the LED units. Looks like it is $200+ down the tubes.

Which wire goes to positive voltage and which wire goes to ground.

Since they are LEDs - once side has to be to ground. Conventional bulbs don't matter.

I am afraid this is not the case. Since the connectors are meant for regular bulbs Porsche did not pay attention to polarity. You have to switch the cables on the connector and try again. If this is too hard to do (like in my case) you can just cut the cables 2cm before the connector and do the switch there.

A LED "load" equalizer is a resistor used in parallel with the LED lamp so that enough current flows to activate the turn signal relay. If you use all LED stop lights you will also need one in the stop light circuit so that cruise control will still work.

Been searching the site for info on LED third brake lights and I noticed you had problems with yours in that they BOTH stopped working. Any ideas what happened. Is the $200 long gone down the drain or were you able to resurrect them. Is there a vendor you think is best?
