Owning a 996 (199) Carerra cabriolet, I wanted to add the GT3 spoiler but this obviously presents a problem as the roof cover goes up and back when opening/ closing the roof. I couldn't find anywhere on this site or anywhere for that matter which suggested a way to alter the mechanism to allow having a larger spoiler on the back. Germansportscarspares in the uk who sold me the kit, said someone had done it, altering the front hinge on the roof cover to dip down lower as it went back, hence raising the back of the cover as it goes back, thereby clearing any big spoilers!

Terry for Germansportscarspares has very kindly offered to help me by trying to re-design the front hinge. He is suggesting it needs a similar "s" shaped bracket to the front one.

Thats the theory, hopefully will have something working by the end of next week and will upload the pictures. Anyone who has done this and has pictures, please load them up! ;)

Sorry to say, no luck modifying front hinge. We were able to clear about an extra inch at the rear, but you need about 2 inches to clear the GT3 spoiler.

One suggestion is to use the same type of spring found on cupboard doors to elevate the height of the rear hinge as it goes round. For the time being I am going to look for a lower spoiler but would be very interested in hearing from anyone who manages to solve the problem to give 2 inches clearance!
