After my car is driven for a while to full op temp and then parked for say 2 hours right after starting it when I give the car some rpms/blip the throttle slightly with the clutch pedal pressed I get a slight hesitation or mis. This seems to come and go and the tech at my dealer says there is nothing they can do about it. Anyone else experience this?

Since your car is still under warranty - I suggest you take it to the dealer and get the complaint documented.

They can read any pending codes and have a look at your car's current OBD II performance.

Certainly if you have had any "miss" there should be fault codes.

No fault codes and dealer say its a normal phenomenon and is probably fuel related which does not hold water w/ me as none of my other German cars have this issue.

I also have an '07 997s and experience the same problem. I would describe it as a hesitation or lack of initial throttle response. When I use sport mode I do not seem to notice the problem.

I was also given a caymen for a loaner and it seemed even worse.

My '98 boxster never did it.

I tried switching to sport the other day right after I noticed the problem ...it unfortunately made no difference and as always went away after I drove the car for about 50 ft.

Burn 5 gallons of race gas (101 octane). That should

clean up things abit. Add it to a tank that is

about half filled.

Paul

Paul, What would the race gas due besides dramatially iincrease the octane?

Thanks

The race gas would burn the carbon off the top of the piston heads. You

will notice that your exhaust pipe tips look different/cleaner after

running a little racing gas. I ran racing gas in my Lay-down Kart and

I noticed that the motor was always cleaner on the inside after running racing gas.

Hi,

You can get race gas in Redwood City, Ca.

Do you live anywhere close? The small cans

of Techron are a waste of money. You really want

101 octane gas.

Paul

Hi Paul!

Where is in Redwood City? Do you have the address? I like to try it with my 05 997s. And how do you mix them? Is it half tank of 101 octane plus the other half super unleaded?

Hi,

It is a samll station on the south side of Woodside road in Redwood City, Ca. I would

add about 5 gallons to a half tank and then do some spirited driving. Then

notice the exhaust tips. I can find the name of the station if you need it.

giahan,

Looks like your are in San Jose...there is a 76 at 3010 Almaden Expwy (at Foxworthy Ave) that also sells racing fuel (100 octane). I believe they have a blending chart that shows how to mix with premium to get to target octane ratings.

:) You're right...I'm in San Jose! I have a Supercharge in my 05 997s so can I just add about half tank of 100 octane when my tank is empty without adding any other regular gasoline? Is this engine design to run 100 plus octane?

My understanding is that the only damage you would do is to your bank account.

The pump with the racing fuel is right next to the regular fuels, so you can do the blend right at the pump to get to whatever your target octane is. The price/performance increase as you go to higher octanes is such that you would not likely want to go with pure racing fuel for street driving.

You could also disconnect the battery (negative terminal) for about 15 seconds to reset the adapted ECU programming. You'll get error lights for PSM & PASM at first - they go away after you drive....
