Another Dead Battery

what up

so dummy me :oops: accidently left the key in the ignition and the battery was on its last leg. i understand you can release the hood with a cable located in the front right wheel well. after searching here in renntech and on my 02 996 cab, i could not locate it! anyway, if someone has performed this and could give me a little direction as to where this cable release is located it would be greatly appreciated :thankyou: do i have to remove the wheel and the wheel well cover for this??

Not sure if it's the same but on a 997 there is a red terminal inside the fuse box that you can grab and pull out. Hook the + side of a batery charger or jumper cables to it, and the - side to the door hinge or something solid metal and you will have enough juice to open the hood. Maybe easier than fishing for the cable.

You have to remove the wheel and the front part of the inner wheel well, the cable is located behind and in the environment of the water tubes ( if you are the first one to do this ). aintpatricksday suggest is easier to do.

There is a engine lid emergency release cable under the left rear tail light. Can't you open the engine lide and there is positive and negative terminals in the engine compartment to hook up a booster battery or a charger?

I'm a Boxster owner, so I don't know the 996.

no prob mate - I did the same thing about a month ago. I just wanted to get to work and the Porsche was parked in the way of all my other vehicles. :oops: Lots of great info on here.
