I purchased an aluminum floor jack with a lifting capacity of 3000 lbs. from Jeg's a few years ago and have never been satisfied with it. I find that it has very little mechanical advantage when lifting the front corners. Basically it takes a lot of effort to jack the car.

What recommendations do you have for a lightweight floor jack for use on a 996, Evo, and an Audi Avant?

Thanks....Chaser

I've got one of the Harbor Freight 3000 lb lightweight aluminum racking jacks and it works fine on my 986 (lowered with ROW M030) and 997 (stock suspension). It's worked fine and I don't have any complaints with it. I would buy in person instead of mail order from what I've heard about Harbor Freight. Sign up for their email and mail flyers, and periodically the mail flyers have a 15% off coupon. I don't know if it's strong enough to lift the Cayenne I've got on order. I've seen similar ones at Sears and from time to time Costco. I also bought a fancy floor jack adapter, see my review here.

I'm very pleased with my Craftsman aluminum floor jack. Low profile and raises quickly with little effort. I think they have 2 models now, I would go with the one that weighs 30-35 lbs. Good luck!
